. Sun Policy
Several of the Sun's readers
have asked recently about how the
Sun decides what to cover and
whether the paper prints letters
to the editor.
First about letters to the
editor; We print any letter we
receive that meets certain
conditions. Letters printed
represent the opinion solely of
the writer and doesn't express
the views of newspaper. It may
not be libelous, which means it
needs to be true. Second it must
be signed by the person who wrote
it. We do not print anonymous
letters. Third you must include a
phone number where you can be
reached during the day.
This is for your protection.
We won't print the phone number
but we will call you to verify
that you are actually who wrote
the letter. This is to prevent
theft of identity. The Sun
reserves the right to reject or
edit submitted editorial copy.
Now about how we decide what
to cover. That's also up to you
the readers.
If there is a meeting or event
that you think should be covered
call the Sun at 287-7197 and tell
us about it. Don't depend on
someone else to let us know call
yourself.
If it is possible we will have
someone come take pictures and
write a story. But our time is
limited and like anyone else we
can't be in two places at once,
so sometimes when you call you
may be asked to bring in
information and or pictures. If
you possibly can please help us
out when you're asked.
