DOG
Henry Lee Malicoat,
5 year old son of Mr. Lester
Malicoat of Sand Gap, was biten
by a dog Saturday and brought to
Dr. Hughes here for treatment.
The head of the dog was sent to
Lexington for examination and
found to be rabid. Pasteur
treatment is being given by Dr.
Hughes.
It is reported that
the same dog possibly bit several
other dogs at Sand Gap and a
close guard should be kept to
prevent other children from being
bitten.
DEWEY GABBARD
PROMOTED TO CHIEF
ORDANCEMAN
Dewey Gabbard, son
of Rev. and Mrs. Frank Gabbard,
of Indian Creek has been promoted
to Aviation Chief Ordanceman in
the U.S. Marines Corps at Paris
Island, S.C. according to
announcement received by his
parents.
This is one of the
highest ranking office in the
Marines and Mr. Gabbard can well
fell proud of his son.

deal Wednesday whereby he becomes

Lt. Reynolds, son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Reynolds of
Tyner, Ky. who was Area Engineer
with the Rural Electrifification
Administration in Washington, DC,
and St. Louis prior to his being
commissioned as a Naval Officer,
is now in active service on the
Atlantic ocean.
Lt. Reynolds is a
graduate of the University of
Kentucky and is Chief
Communications Officer in the U.
S. Navy.

who has been spending a ten day
furlough with his parents has
returned to Georgia to again take
his duties in the U. S.

ROOM TO OPEN IN MORRIS STORE

The store room in
the Farris Morris Building at
McKee, has been donated to the
Red Cross for a sewing room. The
materials are on hand and ready
for the workers. All women who
want to have a part in this
patriotic work are asked to meet
in the sewing room Friday,
February 12 at 2 o'clock
PM.
More sewing machines
are needed. Anyone who has a
machine available for this work
will please see me at
once...
