BOWLING
Frank Bowling, age
80, of Dixon Branch Road, London, passed
away Sunday at Saint Joseph-London. He
was the husband of Martha Hicks Bowling,
the father ofKathy Seeley and husband
Eddie, Doris Middleton, Alvin Bowling and
wife Charlotte, and Charles Bowling and
wife Eloise all of London. He was the
brother of Bertha Davidson of Berea,
Kentucky. Funeral services for Frank
Bowling were held at 11:00 am on Wednesday
at Bowling Funeral Home with Fountain
Jones, Chris Davidson and Eldon Bowling
officiating. Burial followed in the Blair

BREWER
Jeffery Lynn Brewer
was born December 27, 1956 and departed
this life Thursday, June 5, 2008, being 51
years of age. He was the son of Lillian
(Smith) Brewer of Tyner and of the late
Rev. Glen Brewer.
In addition to
his mother, Jeff is also survived by his
wife- Wanda Kay (Spurlock) Brewer of Tyner
and by two children- Eric Lynn Brewer
& his wife Patricia of Waneta and
Rebecca Kay Keeton & her husband
Jeremy of Nancy, KY. He is also survived
by the following brothers and sisters-
David Brewer & his wife Regina of
McKee, Jerry Brewer & his wife Dory of
Jacksonville, Florida, Allen Brewer of
London, KY, Lori Gabbard & her husband
Ron and Shannon Lakes & her husband
Jimmy all of McKee, KY.
Jeff was blessed
with four grandchildren- Devon James
Keeton, Nathan Bryce Keeton, Eric Ryan
Brewer and Austin Jeffery Dale
Brewer.
Other than his
father, Jeff was also preceded in death by
two brothers- Danny Brewer and Jimmy
Brewer.
Jeff was a member of
the Sand Gap United Baptist
Church.

Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Gentry
officiating. Burial followed in the
Spurlock Family Cemetery. Lakes Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT BRUCE
HAYS
Robert Bruce Hays
was born December 4, 1922 in McKee, KY to
James R. and Nellie (Russell) Hays. Bruce
departed this life at his home in McKee on
Friday, June 6, 2008.
He is survived by
his loving wife of 53 years, Ruby Baker
Hays; one daughter, Donna Hays Albaugh of
Richmond, KY; one son Robert Bruce Hays
Jr. of Lexington, KY; by a granddaughter,
Amy Christine Albaugh and one grandson,
Robert Lee Albaugh both of Richmond, KY
and a host of nieces, nephews and
friends.
Bruce was preceded
in death by his parents; three brothers,
Russell, Earl and Ed and by a sister,
Christine Ellis.
Bruce was a faithful
member of the McKee Reformed Church since
age nine.
He has served as
Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, and
a member of the Consistory.
Bruce was a graduate
of McKee High School and Western Kentucky
University.
He served his
country in the Navy during World War II
from May 19, 1943 to May of
1946.
Mr. Hays Vice
President and Director of the Jackson
County Bank for 45 years where he saw the
bank grow from a small-town bank to one of
the most respected banks in the
state.
Bruce Hays served 58
years as Director of Peoples Rural
Telephone Cooperative. Mr. Hays secured
the loan to start telephone service in
Jackson County which was the first rural
loan to be approved in
Kentucky.
Bruce made history
by making the first telephone call in
Jackson County which was to Washington,
DC.
Mr. Hays served as
Treasurer of Jackson County Health
Department for 55 years where he witnessed
much advancement in the health and medical
fields, including the first ambulance
service in Jackson County.
Bruce was a lifetime
member of the Jackson County Kiwanis Club
where he served in many
positions.
Mr. Hays has served
in numerous civic and community
capacities, including the McKee City
Council. Bruce helped secure the first
water and sewage system for McKee in
1964.
Bruce has spent his
adult life contributing in many ways to
the improvement of his beloved Jackson
County with vision and
integrity.
Robert Bruce Hays
leaves a valuable legacy of community
service and a great void for his family,
friends and community. He, his loyalty,
his leadership, and his benevolence will
be sadly missed.

Lakes Funeral Home in McKee, KY with Bro.
Calvin Hays and Bro. Gerald Maupin
officiating. Burial followed in the Pilot
Knob Cemetery in Madison
County.

LUTHER PIERSON,
JR.
Luther Pierson Jr.
was born November 16, 1931 in Owsley
County and departed this life Wednesday,
June 4, 2008 at his residence, being 76
years of age. He was the son of the late
Luther Pierson Sr. and Callie Conrad
Pierson.
Luther is survived
by three children- Gerald Pierson of
Annville, Kyle Pierson of McKee and Lisa
Hayes of Ohio. He is also survived by two
brothers- Clarence Pierson of Hamilton,
Ohio and Arvil Creech of Somerset, KY and
by two sisters- Christine McWhorter of
Georgetown, KY and Rachel Spencer of
Hamilton, Ohio. Luther was blessed with
four grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his
parents, Luther was also preceded in death
by a brother- Billy Ray Pierson and by two
sisters- Emma McIntire and Illa
Madden.
Luther was a member
of the Union Baptist Church.
Funeral service was
held 2:00PM Saturday, June 7, 2008 at
Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. David Reed
officiating. Burial followed in the Madden
Cemetery in Tyner. Lakes Funeral Home was

TITTLE
Odessa Tittle was
born March 7, 1927 in Clay County and
departed this life Wednesday, June 4, 2008
at the Hardin Memorial Hosptial in
Elizabethtown, KY, being 81 years of age.
She was the daughter of the late Daniel
Edgar Metcalf and Bobbie (Rutherford)
Metcalf.
Odessa is survived
by the following children- Ron Cavins of
Vine Grove, KY, Dan Cavins of Ocala,
Florida, Larry Cavins of Independence, KY,
Gary Cavins of Tennessee and Joan Gill of
Annville, KY. She is also survived by a
sister- Georgia King of Tyner, KY and by a
brother- Harlan Glenn Metcalf of Maulden,
KY. She was blessed with 17
grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and
1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her
parents, Odessa was also preceded in death
by her husband- Otis Cavins; by a
daughter- Vera Ann Cavins and by a
sister-Pearl Bingham.
Odessa loved to
quilt, loved her dogs and she enjoyed
cooking for her family. She was also a
member of the Maulden Baptist
Church.

held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2008 at
the Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Landon
McDaniel and Bro. Cheyenne Metcalf
officiating. Burial followed in the Neeley
Cemetery in Clay County. Lakes Funeral

VANWINKLE
Mary (Hatton) Van
Winkle was born March 17, 1933 in Perry
County and departed this life Monday, June
2, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospital in
Berea, being 75 years of age. She was the
daughter of the late Lee & Nancy
(Crawford) Hatton.
Mary is survived by
the following brothers and sisters- George
Arnold Hatton, Aaron Hatton, Polly Witt,
Caroline Gray & Hubert Hatton all of
McKee, Virgil Ray Hatton of Berea, Jane
Bradt of Tennessee, Minnie Faye Garrett,
Clarence B. Hatton and Daniel Hatton all
of Madison County.
She was also
survived by a host of nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her
parents, Mary was also preceded in death
by her husband Lloyd VanWinkle and by
three brothers and a sister- Robert
Richard Hatton, Lee Ancy Hatton, Dallas
Hugh Hatton & Etta Quanita
Hatton.
Mary was a member of
Eastern Star and a member of the Silver
Creek Baptist Church.

COLLINS
Paul Jones Collins
was born January 16, 1931 in Jackson
County and departed this life Monday, June
9, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in London,
being 77 years of age. He was the son of
the late Pearl Collins & Louvina
Peters Collins.
Paul is survived by
his loving wife- Louise (Cunigan) Collins
of Annville and by the following children-
Roger Collins of Sand Gap, Kevin Collins
of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brian Collins of
Owenton, KY and Regina Sanborn of
Sevierville, Tennessee. He is also
survived by a sister- Betty Bryan of
Michigan. He was blessed with eleven
grandchildren and twelve
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his
parents, Paul was also preceded in death
by a son Gary Lee Collins.
Paul was a veteran
of the United States Navy and a member of
the Bond Baptist Church. He was also a
member of the Pond Fork Masonic Lodge
#601, a member of the Eastern Star and of
the Golden Rule Chapter #111.

CONRAD
Carolyn Ann Conrad
was born April 19, 1941 in Menifee County
and departed this life Tuesday, June 10,
2008 at the Clark Regional Medical Center
in Winchester, being 67 years of age. She
was the daughter of the late Lloyd &
Nellie (Sorrell) Johnson.
Carolyn is survived
by her loving husband- Albert Conrad of
Lexington and by a daughter- Laurie Ewing
of Louisville. She is also survived by
five sisters- Louise Lacefield of
Letchfield, KY, Garnetta Johnson of
London, Marie Thompson of Ohio, Joyce
Ritchy of Winchester and Peggy Bennett of
Arizona; by two half sisters- Pam Markley
and Patty Tucker and by three half
brothers- Tommy Mullins & Graden
Mullins both of Mt. Sterling and Wayne
Mullins of McKee. She was blessed with two
grandsons- Devin & Caleb Ewing both of
Louisville.
Carolyn was a member
of the Methodist Church. She loved and
enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved to
shop and loved to go to yard
sales.

NORMA L.
ISAACS
Norma L. Isaacs, was
born August 7, 1941, in Jackson County,
Kentucky, and departed this life on
Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the
Compassionate Care Center in Richmond,
Ky., at the age of 66. She was the
daughter of the late Albert Coyle and
Della Mae Harrison Coyle.
She was united in
marriage to Chester Isaacs, who preceded
her in death in 1984. She is survived by
the following children, Michael Isaacs,
Solan Nick Isaacs, and Camella Isaacs, all
of Berea, Ky; 5 grandchildren, Tracy,
Cashie, Chris, Levi and Michael and one
great grandchild, Kaliah. She is survived
by four brothers; Hansel Coyle of
Richmond, KY; Jack Coyle, Billy Coyle and
Sherrill Coyle all of Ohio. She was
preceded in death by a stillborn daughter,
Angela Michelle Isaacs and two sisters;
Juanita Walling and Ina Mae
McKinney.
She was a member of
the Baptist Faith and we feel our loss is
truly Heaven's Gain.

were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 14,
2008, at the Justice Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Eugene Webb officiating. Burial
followed in the Gabbard Cemetery at McKee,
under the direction of the Justice Funeral
Home.

JOHNSON
Roy Johnson age 74
of Lexington Road in Richmond, passed away
Monday June 9, 2008.
He was born in
Jackson County to the late William O.
Bradley and Amanda Boggs Johnson. He was a
disabled U.S. Army veteran and retired
from the maintenance department of
Annville Institute.
He is survived by
his wife Viola Hensley Johnson; two
children Carrie Renee'(Glenn) Felts of
Richmond and Roy S. Johnson of Richmond;
four sisters Grace Bowling, Rhoda Moore,
Rena Metcalf and Sophie (B.J.) Gilbert;
three grandchildren Carissa Felts, Cameron
Felts and Justin Cody Wyrick
Johnson.
In addition to his
parents he was preceded in death by one
daughter Linda Gail Johnson, two brothers
Clyde Johnson and twin brother Ray Johnson
and one sister Ruby Johnson.

were held on Friday June 13, 2008 at 2:00
pm at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with
Rev. Eldon Bowling and Rev. Roger Williams
officiating. Burial followed in the
Cornetts Chapel Cemetery at Moores
Creek.

Lawson Lynch was
born June 21, 1931, in Winter Haven,
Florida and departed this life on Tuesday,
June 10, 2008, at the Clermont Mercy
Hospital in Batavia, Ohio, at the age of
76. He was the son of the late Conley
Lynch and Beulah Whicker Lynch.
He is survived by
the following children; Lawson Lynch, Jr.
and his wife, Pam Lynch, of Mt. Orab,
Ohio; Rodney Lynch of Morrow, Ohio; Randy
Lynch and his wife, Tammy of Bethel, Ohio;
Mark Lynch of Wilmington, Ohio; Rita Lynch
of Blanchester, Ohio; Candy Alabiat of
Beechmont, Ohio; and Lisa DiMario of
Goshin, Ohio, 21 grandchildren and 6 great
grandchildren. He is also survived by the
following brothers and sisters; Luther
Lynch and his wife, Carolyn of Medoria,
Indiana; Lyndon Lynch and his wife, Lula
Mae of McKee; Leon Lynch and his wife,
Dovie of Fountain City, Indiana; Harlos

Donald Lynch and his wife, Jennifer of

was preceded in death by one sister,

Laura is survived by
her loving brother- Leon Sparks of

She was a member of
